What can I do with my life now?

Spoiler!

I work as a copywriter freelance for business in the circular economy and sustainability products, but until 3 months ago, I was in the same position you are now.

So I think 3 steps can help you to find something good.

The first step.

Read books and watch videos.

All the types of videos.

ALL.

Do you like math?

Ok, watch a video that speaks about the literature of philosophy.

Do you like to play chess? Ok, now try to play basketball.

Do you like to read fantasy books? Now try to read a storybook.

Open your mind to all the parts that are completely different from your point of view.

But don’t stop there, go on.

After you watch a video of philosophy, watch another one, almost 2 or 3.

Until that number, you can’t know if you really hate that subject or you only don’t understand in the past.

It’s the same thing with books.

You have to enjoy the strangeness.

Yes, it’s like “Out of the comfort zone”, ya.

Do this, learn new things, more and more.

The second step.

Try everything that you have inside your mind.

Everything.

Now that you have watched Marketing videos, try doing something with your hands instead of staying on the couch watching tons of videos.

Do you like that? Ok.

Find a blog in your area or even online and offer yourself to do Seo (Search Engine Optimization) and help them to scale the rank of the page or to do advertising for them for free.

Do you like astronomy?

Open an Instagram account and share what you learn day by day about it.

The important thing is that you put what you have learned theoretically down and you start doing something.

Do this at least for 1 month per thing, so you can relate if you like the subject.

Third step.

Now you have found more things that you enjoy.

Select 3 of them and go deep.

There isn’t a perfect number, we are all different, so everybody has his perfect number, I say 3 because it seems a pretty good digit, doesn’t it?

You like Marketing, Astrophysique, and Art. (maybe?)

Ok, what you choose of these three?

“All of them.”

Ok

What is the one of them you’ll do for hours and hours?

Ok, now choose that and try to make a living without excluding others, go deep and learn, learn and learn.

After 1 year, you probably have a job or a good side hustle from all the things you enjoy doing.

IKIGAI

IKIGAI (Ick-ee-guy) is a Japanese concept that (in theory) will help you to find your purpose in life.

In September 2017 a group of scientists conducted research in the small town of Kyotango in Kyoto (a place where there is a three-time presence of 100+ age people than the rest of the country ).

All the people had got a high quantity of DHEA (steroid hormone secreted by the adrenal glands that many believe may be the miracle “longevity hormone”) and another common thing….

A hobby.

A hobby they practiced every day that they were really into. (fishing, chess, paint)

The correlation between having a hobby you love and the increase of DHEA is yet to be proven scientifically but the study suggested that having one thing that keeps you interested, focused, and gives you a sense of life satisfaction may boost your youth DHEA hormone, thus leading to a longer and happier life.

It’s not certain that IKIGAI will find you a purpose but it will put in your head something different that makes the brain work.

There are 5 pillars of IKIGAI :

  • Start small
  • Forget about yourself
  • Harmony and sustainability
  • Joy for the little things
  • Being in the here and now

Write all the things you have done this week/month and ask yourself 4 questions about it :

  • Is it something that I love doing?
  • Is it something the world needs?
  • Is it something I’m good at?
  • Is it something I can get paid for?

I don’t know what books are the best for this argument but I will write down some names I heard of :

  • Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life — Hector Garcia, Frances Miralles
  • The Little Book of Ikigai: The secret Japanese way to live a happy and long life — Ken Mogi
  • Ikigai: Giving Every Day Meaning and Joy — Yukari Mitsuhashi

This is everything I have to say to help you find a way.

I hope I have been good or at least, not too bad, to help you.

Enjoy everything you do and have a good life.

Think about this too

The world is very very different, if you try to become a nomad you will see a world very different but even full of smog e bad gas products by us.

I don’t tell you “do almost one thing that is good for other people” but you can reflect on it and think.

“How can I do good for the world? ”

“How can I change my little part of the world to transform it into a better version of itself ? ”.

Try to tell this question and answer it on white paper.

Leave in a self and don’t think of it for some days.

After bringing another paper, re-answer that question and finish it bring the past paper, and read both.

Something might be happening.

I hope you enjoy this article, if you, let me know, don’t be shy :-).

I think you can try these things without worries or something like that.

Bye,

Benedict.
